Donald Glover and James Earl Jones join the cast of The Lion King

It looks like Disney is keeping a lot of their upcoming projects “in the family”. Disney owns LucasFilm who has always had James Earl Jones at their side voicing Darth Vader. More recently they’ve cast Donald Glover as a younger version of Lando in the upcoming Star Wars spin off Han Solo film.

With the success of the recent live action Jungle Book, Disney has decided to give the classic Lion King the same treatment.  It’s pretty great that they’ve decided to bring James Earl Jones back to voice Mufasa again but also pretty great they’ve decided to have Donald Glover be Simba. (I’m guessing JTT was just too busy to take on the role of Simba again)

I think this is great casting and I’m excited to see what Jon Favreau has up his sleeves for this live action adaptation.

First look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Force Friday Promo Material)

Force Friday is what Disney and LucasFilm have officially dubbed as the launch of their Star Wars merchandise marketing campaign., which focuses namely on toys, books, clothing, etc. The last few years it’s launched in September, ramping up the the eventual release of the films in December.

It looks like we have our first look at what will be some type of box/case that will contain toys or books perhaps. The important thing to note here is that we have our three main heroes with just enough differences to set them apart from the previous film, namely Rey.

First off, she’s holding a light saber and looking pretty rad I might add. Poe and Finn look similar, however it’s reassuring to know that they will still be big parts of this second installment.

New trailer for ‘Legion’

Looks like we are finally getting a little bit of plot for the upcoming Marvel/FX series, Legion. Until now the marketing has been pretty vague, but with this new trailer release, we are getting real glimpses of actual story elements.

For those unversed in the lore/canon of ‘Legion’. it takes place within the XMEN universe. On top of that, Dan Stevens character is the son of the well known mutant Charles Xavier. That’s right folks, he is the son of Professor X.  And similar to the thoughts of Wade Wilson, we aren’t sure if it’s Stewart or McAvoy, these timelines are so confusing.

First Image from Stranger Things Season 2 – Trailer during Superbowl!

Looks like the crew from the acclaimed phenomenon, Stranger Things,  is back! We’ve known for a while that season 2 was in development but until now we haven’t seen any marketing for the upcoming sophomore season. Entertainment Weekly dropped this image and it looks like we’re going to be treated to another wonderful dose of 80’s nostalgia.  There are even rumors that we may see a trailer for it debut during Sundays Superbowl game, which would be INCREDIBLE!  Are you as excited about this as we are?!

Ben Affleck Bows out of Directing ‘The Batman’

For the last 6 months or so, Ben Affleck has been in serious talks to both star in and direct the upcoming Batman standalone film.  It looks like that will no longer be the case. Ben released the following statement yesterday:

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Here’s our first glimpse of Ocean’s Eight!

All we know for now is that Ocean’s Eight is an all female cast and is somehow  connected to the Ocean’s Eleven universe.  Here is our first glimpse of the crew potentially on their way to pull off some sort of elaborate heist. Or maybe they’re just going out to dinner together, either way we’ll have to wait until 2018 before we find out for sure.

Ocean’s Eight is directed by Gary Ross and it stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and  Helena Bonham Carter.
