Ben Affleck Bows out of Directing ‘The Batman’

For the last 6 months or so, Ben Affleck has been in serious talks to both star in and direct the upcoming Batman standalone film.  It looks like that will no longer be the case. Ben released the following statement yesterday:

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Here’s our first glimpse of Ocean’s Eight!

All we know for now is that Ocean’s Eight is an all female cast and is somehow  connected to the Ocean’s Eleven universe.  Here is our first glimpse of the crew potentially on their way to pull off some sort of elaborate heist. Or maybe they’re just going out to dinner together, either way we’ll have to wait until 2018 before we find out for sure.

Ocean’s Eight is directed by Gary Ross and it stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and  Helena Bonham Carter.

The Flash’s Cinematic Crisis

In the photo below, Ezra Millers cinematic version of the flash looks concerned…. After multiple release date changes, re-writes, and directorial shifts, the film version of DC’s The Flash will be undergoing a page one  re-write. (Essentially starting from scratch).

This is a HUGE deal. It seems DC is content to hype and promote a property before they even have a story that’s good or they’re satisfied with (Cart before the horse situation). While this smells like more trouble for the DCEU, maybe if they really take their time with it and do it right, they can finally tap into something great!

The Grant Gustin lead TV version of The Flash has overwhelmingly positive reviews and a massive following. Maybe the movie studio can take a page or two out of the DC television playbook.
